Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Service Assistant to join our team and support our service department’s daily operations. You will be assisting the Service Manager in providing services to customers and organizes and controls all service-related documents. In this role you will assist in scheduling service appointments by obtaining customer and vehicle data prior to arrival when possible, including whether the customer will require a loaner car.

Responsibilities

  • Greets customers in a timely, friendly manner and obtains vehicle information.
  • Writes up customer's vehicle problems accurately and clearly on repair order.
  • Refers to service history, inspects vehicle, and recommends additional needed service.
  • Advises customers on the care of their cars and the value of maintaining their vehicles in accordance with manufacturers' specifications.
  • Obtains customer's signature on repair order; provides customer with a copy.
  • Establishes customer's method of payment. Obtains credit approval, if necessary.
  • Notifies Service Advisor or Service Manager of incoming work and any special customer concerns.
  • Assigns sequence numbers to repairs orders and attaches customers’ keys to key tags.
  • Maintains high customer satisfaction standards.
  • Sorts and files hardcopies of repair orders, invoices, etc. in customer files.
  • Inspects loaner cars for cleanliness and gas level when returned by customers.

Requirements

  • Minumum of 18+ years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Ability to stand for scheduled timeframe
